Funny Face

Funny Face

Asiatic Dayflower (Commelina communis) is an annual introduced to the USA from eastern Asia. It likes moist shade. A lot of people consider it a weed, but I love the funny blue flowers that remind me of a mouse face. It's in the Spiderwort family. The young leaves of this plant can be eaten raw but older ones are better cooked.
